YASED’s IPR Seminar was held on October 24, 2011 in Ankara 

The seminar organized by YASED, in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, in Ankara, on October 24, 2011, has been successfully completed with the participation of both public and private institutions.
 
The seminar was commenced with the opening addresses of Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergün and YASED Chairman İzzet Karaca. The issues of legislation and practices in Turkey and around the world, investor’s expectations and recommendations in the process of converting intellectual and industrial property into investment were discussed.

Within the context of the seminar, YASED Responsible Board Member of Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights Working Group, Güldem Berkman made a presentation on the outcomes of the YASED IPR report entitled “Protection of Intellectual Property Rights: Impact on Foreign Direct Investment-2011”.

The said report puts forth the multidimensional relationship on the world between the protection of intellectual property rights and foreign direct investment, the economic effects of intellectual property violations and investment opportunity losses, additional burden generated on public finance; and the potential gains in cases the measures necessary for the protection of intellectual and industrial property rights are taken, with comparative examples and gives concrete suggestions in this connection.
