The traditional Ankara Reception of YASED, held once a year, was held on the evening of Wednesday November 11 this year at Ankara Hilton Hotel. The event was highly attended by the members of the government, members of the parliament, bureaucrats, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, international investors and the members of the business world as well as YASED members.

Following the opening speech of Chairman Piraye Antika, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the Reception as the Guest of Honor and addressed the participants. After the addressing, YASED Board conveyed the problems on the agenda of our members to the Prime Minister Erdoğan at a private meeting. During the Reception, YASED member international investors had the chance to communicate with the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of State in charge of Economy and Vice Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bağış and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız.

YASED's Traditional Ankara Protocol Reception was held on the evening of Wednesday, November 19th at Ankara Palas with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as the Guest of Honor. In addition to the members and the Board Members of YASED, the Reception also welcomed more than 400 guests, including several Cabinet Ministers, current and ex-MPs, many top level bureaucrats, representatives of business organizations, chairmen of chambers, a number of ambassadors and representatives of some international organizations.

Following the addresses made by YASED Chairman Tahir Uysal and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, YASED members had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister and Minister of State Hayati Yazıcı, Minister of State Nazım Erken, Minister of State Kürşad Tüzmen, Minister of State Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Babacan and Minister of Finance Kemal Unakıtan, who also participated in the Reception. The Prime Minister in the meantime made remarks particularly on the global crisis.

As in previous years Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the Guest of Honor of Traditional Ankara Reception held on 20 November at Ankara Hilton. Besides the members and the Board members of YASED, more than 400 guests including current and former MPs, many top bureaucrats, representatives of the business organizations, chairmen of chambers, Ambassadors and representatives of international organizations participated in the Reception.

In his opening address on behalf of YASED Board, Chairman Tahir Uysal underlined that political and economic stability will always be the topmost demand of investors, and recited the issues necessary to sharpen Turkey’s competitiveness and particularly to attract greenfield investment to our country besides M&As, which currently constitute a very significant share of the FDI inflows. Chairman Uysal, in this context mentioned that structural reforms should be sustained, unregistered economy should be avoided by regulating the tax system, the existing burdens on employment should be eased, supports given to R&D should be sustained, and pointed out to the significance of reforms in the judicial system and particularly the intellectual and property rights.      

Then, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his address, stated that international investments played a significant role in the improvements accomplished in the economic areas; expressed his thanks to YASED in this regard for its efforts, and stated that no one would like to invest and take risk in a country struggling with uncertainties and mentioned about the works carried out by the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey, which reports directly to the Office of the Prime Minister, and the importance of promotion, and underlined that they gave significance to the maintenance of a harmonious cooperation between the Agency and YASED. After his address to the guests, the Prime Minister received YASED Board for a private meeting.

November 8, 2006

Traditional Ankara Reception of YASED was held on 8 November 2006 at Ankara Swissotel. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the Guest of Honor of the Reception and made a speech on FDI in Turkey and the works on the improvement of the investment environment. Approximately 400 guests participated to Reception among which were Ministers, members of parliament, senior bureaucrats, representatives of foreign missions, ambassadors, representatives of national and international organizations and YASED members.

Board members of YASED met with the Prime Minister, following after his address, to discuss the matters regarding the improvement of the investment environment. The meeting, where the problems of the foreign investors were discussed was extremely fruitful. The Prime Minister has shown sincere efforts for expediting the solutions for the problems presented, by delegating the related Ministers and bureaucrats during the meeting. Minister of Finance Kemal Unakıtan and the President of the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT) Alparslan Korkmaz also participated in this meeting.

The Traditional Ankara Reception of YASED was held on 29 November 2005 at Ankara Sheraton Hotel. A large number of deputies, bureaucrats and businessmen were present at the Reception. Ankara Reception hosted by YASED every year in November, in an attempt to establish goodwill and friendship bridges between YASED executives and decision-makers of Ankara, is expected to continue in the coming years, with an ever-increasing number of guests.


November 25, 2004

YASED organized a Protocol Reception for the first time on 25 November 2004 at the State Guest Mansion in Ankara with an inspiration to constitute this occurrence as a tradition. The Reception where the Prime Minister participated as the Guest of Honor was focused on the significance of foreign investment during the full EU membership process, necessary actions, and expectations.

Roughly 400 visitors consisting of ministers, deputies, top bureaucrats, foreign missions’ representatives, ambassadors, representatives of domestic and foreign organizations and YASED members were present in the Reception, where Prime Minister Erdoğan addressed the visitors’ issues on foreign investments and works carried out on the improvement of the investment environment.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, YASED Board members and representatives of foreign investors, which are faced with problems, gathered with the Prime Minister during the reception, to talk about the issues on the improvement of the investment environment.The Progress Report prepared by YASED, in line with the priorities designated by the Investment Advisory Council was presented to the Prime Minister.
